194,114 children vaccinated against polio in Karachi


KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health and Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Tuesday said 194,114 children were administered polio drops in the first day of ongoing polio campaign in 86 Union Councils (UCs) of Karachi, while 654,268 children would be given polio drops during three-day drive.

The minister claimed that 30 percent target was achieved in first day polio drive. He said polio campaign was in full swing without any hindrance and the security has been provided to polio teams and the cooperation of civil society was also sought in this regard. He requested the parents to administer polio drops to their children.

Dahar while taking notice of non-posting of senior pathologist in Civil Hospital Sukkur, directed secretary health to immediately assign senior pathologist there. He also directed administration of Civil Hospital Sukkur to ensure provision of medicines to the patients and each patient should be looked after and treated properly.

On the directives of health minister, Secretary Health Iqbal Durrani appointed 20-grade officer Senior Pathologist Dr Tariq Dureshani in Civil Hospital Sukkur.
