KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Monday said that 24,155 patients of hepatitis are being treated under Hepatitis Control program in Sindh while 59 sentinel sites are providing hepatitis treatment and 17 vaccination centres are also working in the province.
This he said while presiding over a meeting to review hepatitis situation in the province. Program Manager, Hepatitis Control Program in Sindh, Dr Abdul Khaliq Shaikh also attended the meeting.
He told that since program was started so far 26,630 patients of hepatitis B, 1,80,053 patients of hepatitis C and 4,876 patients of hepatitis D had been registered, out which 14,254 patients of hepatitis B, 1,49,932 patients of hepatitis C and 3479 patients of hepatitis D had been treated completely.
He said in September 2015, as many 517 patients of hepatitis B, 2,375 patients of hepatitis C and 35 new patients of hepatitis D have been registered.
Program manager Dr Abdul Khaliq Shaikh told Minister Health Jam Mehtab Hussain that Khairpur, Ghotki, Sanghar and Dadu were high risk districts for hepatitis and the work was going on in these districts on priority basis.
Jam Mehtab directed the program manager to work against hepatitis on emergency basis and create awareness among masses against this fatal disease
