20 employees transferred from Burns Center

Karachi: Administration of Burns Center, Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), has transferred 20 employees and decided that recruitment of contract employees would be held under new criteria through a private recruitment company, it was learnt on Saturday.

A senior official of Burns Center Karachi on condition of anonymity told PPI that administration has reshuffled around 20 employees of lower ranks from Burns Center to CHK who had been working in the center over one decade due to their alleged involvement in political activities and holding protests against the administration.

On other hand, the recruitment of contract employees would be done under new criteria by Friends of Burns Center (FOBC) through a private recruitment company. The recruitment would be done on contract basis offering many new facilities like group insurance and health insurance.

It was pertinent to mention here that Friends of Burns Center, a non-governmental organization (NGO), had stopped the supply of medicines to this Sindh’s sole burn injuries healthcare center due to increasing activities of different medical wings of political parties and staging of protests demonstration of paramedics against the administration.

The administration of NGO asked Civil Hospital Karachi administration to take the control of Burns Center again and administrative staff had limited their public welfare activities in the center for last few days. The official said MS Civil Hospital Saeed Qureshi had sought one week time to resolve the matter from Friends of Burns Center administration in this regard.

He said no any employee would be allowed to do job in Burns Center privately who are already working in CHK on permanent basis. Under new criteria these employees are not justifying with their jobs.

In-charge CHK Burns Center Dr Ehmer-Al-Ibran said Friends of Burns Center has resumed their public welfare activities again and hoped that the crisis would be ended soon. He confirmed that 20 employees were transferred from the center and recruitment of new contract employees would be held under new criteria in order to improve the healthcare delivery system.
