KARACHI: Renowned Ophthalmologist and President Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan Karachi chapter Dr Misbha-ul-Aziz on Monday said all the advance facilities are available in Karachi to cater eye diseases.
He shared these views while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club in connection of upcoming 36th Annual Conference of Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan Karachi Branch “KAROPHTH 2015” to be held from 6th Karachi 2015 at a local hotel. The eminent ophthalmologists from all over Pakistan will be participating in the three-day event.
He said various private hospitals and eye care center are equipped with latest eye diagnostic facilities as compared to public sector hospitals. He said people with poor vision can get rid from glasses by using lenses in eyes. He said quality of lenses is improving day by day.
He said various eye care charity institutions and organizations are carrying eye surgeries free of cost in different area of Sindh province in order to benefit poor people who could not afford costly treatment.
He said eye allergies, inflammation and watery eyes cases will increase in coming days due to sudden change in weather and rains. He advised the people to adopt precautionary measures to prevent eye problems. He said in case of eye problems, people must contact eye specialists to avoid further complications.
Prof Saeed Iqbal urged the people who are suffering from diabetes and high-blood pressure, to regularly get checked up their eyes from ophthalmologists to minimize the chance of vision loss and also to prevent further complications.
He informed that cataract disease is more common in elderly people. He said cataract disease is also called aging process and disease is curable in its primary stage.
