KARACHI: South Zone Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested 65 criminals in seven separate encounters and raids in different parts of the metropolis.
On the directions issued by DIG South Zone Dr Jameel Ahmad, police conducted raids against criminals. Four alleged terrorists and gang war criminals, Javed alias Para, Ilyas Khan alias Guddu Bando, Tahir Sheikh alias Aimi and Zohaib alias Kala, were arrested by Kalri and Risala police.
Three bombs and four pistols were recovered from their possession. The police said arrested suspects were wanted to police in different cases.
Meanwhile, in encounters and different actions; Arambagh, Darkhshan, Maripur, Frere, Gizri, Mochko, Docks and Boat Basin police arrested 14 criminals and members of dacoit groups during different encounters. They said that 18 pistols, 18 magazines, 65 rounds, one motorcycle and looted property were recovered from their possession.
Police also arrested eight criminals who were involved in drug cases and seized a large quantity of drugs.
Meanwhile, 14 gamblers were also arrested; and stake money and sources of gambling were recovered from their possession.
They claimed that 25 other absconders were also detained. They said arrested culprits were wanted to police in different cases.
