8 cops remanded in kidnapping case

Karachi: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) remanded eight policemen to police custody till 19th April 2015 for their alleged involvement in a kidnapping for ransom case.

Police produced ASI Faisal Jaffery, ASI Mohammad Arif, Constable Jalal Haider, Constable Imran, Constable Mohammad Ashfaq, Constable Mohammad Jahangir, Constable Syed Ali and Constable Kafil Noor before ATC Judge.

Investigation officer requested the court that police needed their physical custody to investigate them further. The court accepted the police request and remanded all the accused to their custody to their custody till 19 April.

According to the prosecution, the accused had kidnapped complainant Rao Inamullah and demanded ransom of Rs2, 000,000 for his safe release. The special unit of Pakistan rangers arrested the accused and handed over them to the relevant police station.
