KARACHI: Director Health Karachi Dr Zafar Ejaz said on Tuesday that the health department employees’ physical verification is successfully continued in Karachi so as to identify ghost staff, and improve health institutions’ overall performance.
Talking to PPI, Dr. Zafar said that on the directives issued by the health department high-ups, physical verification of doctors, vaccinators, drivers and other staff has been launched throughout the city in phases. He said in first phase, doctors’ physical verification had successfully been conducted.
He said the drivers’ physical verification is underway as part of second phase. He explained that around 133 hospitals, dispensaries, and maternity homes are operating across the city under supervision of provincial health department, including seven big and small hospitals; therefore, the health department Karachi chapter had started physical verification in phases to indentify phony and ghosts staff. He said the verification process aims to improve patient care in the city.
Dr Zafar said: “Physical verification is being carried out under Town Health Officers’ (THOs) supervision in phases. Presently, second round of verification is underway. In next phase, physical verification of vaccinators and other staff will be commenced after Eid-ul-Fitr.”
He said all THOs had strictly been directed to check the presence of doctors, paramedical staff and other staff in their respective towns during duty hours; otherwise, as absentees’ salaries will be stopped.
He hoped health delivery system will be improved throughout the city after completion of physical verification procedure, and staff’s attendance will also be increased in the future.
