Accused remanded to police for 14 days


KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) remanded an accused Irfan to police custody till 5 February 2015 in different terrorism cases.

Police produced the accused before the ATC judge amid tight security in a police encounter, attempt to murder, illicit weapons possession and explosives material cases.

Investigation officer requested the court that police needed his physical custody to trace his connections and map out the where about of his absconding accomplice Ataullah. The court accepted the police request and remanded the accused to their custody for 14 days.

According to prosecution, the accused was arrested after an encounter on 22nd January near Gulshan-e-Kaneez Fatima Society however another accused Ataullah managed to escape. The police claimed to have recovered illegal weapons and explosives material from accused possession.

A case was registered at Surjani police police station under section 324 (attempt to murder, 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 23IA (illegal weapons possession act) and 4/5( explosives material act)of the Pakistan Penal Code read with the Anti-Terrorism act, 1997.
