Accused remanded to police in three cases


KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday remanded an accused, Arif alias Anda to police custody till 12 February 2015 in attempt to murder, encounter and explosives material cases.

Police produced the accused before ATC under tight security. According to the prosecution, the rangers arrested the accused on 16th January and recovered hand grenade from his possession. The rangers handed over the accused to police on 30 January. Investigation officer requested the court that police needed his investigation and physical custody to trace his connections and other accomplice Waheed who is still absconding.

The court accepted the request of police and remanded the accused to police custody till 12 February. The accused complained the court about the maltreatment at the hands of the rangers. The ATC judge directed the court to conduct medical examination of the accused from hospital.

The case FIR 54/15, 55/15 and 56/15 were registered at Saeedabad police station under Section 324 (attempt to murder), 353(Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty),34(common intention) and 4/5 (explosives substance) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
