Action demanded against unethical practices of doctors

Karachi: General Secretary Sindh Doctors Welfare Association (SDWA) Dr Nawaz Ali Mallah on Wednesday demanded action against those doctors who are involved in unethical practices to fleece their patients.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club along with Secretary General PMA Centre Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, information secretary SDWA Dr Nisar Ali Shah and Dr Khair Muhammad Narejo, he said he personally has suffered a lot as a cardiac patient at the hands of some senior specialists.

He said due to maltreatment of a specialist doctor of Civil Hospital Karachi his health was ruined and now he is getting treatment at SIUT. He said the influential doctor who has ruined his health is giving him dire threats.

He appealed the Secretary Health, Vice Chancellors of Medical Universities, Medical Superintends, Doctors, Paramedical, Nurses and Civil Society to support his cause. He demanded stern action against those involved fleecing him and ruining his health.

Secretary General PMA Centre Mirza Ali Azhar said PMA is against all kinds of malpractice and negligence in healthcare centers. He said those who were involved in Dr Nawaz case should be made accountable.

He demanded of the government for immediate constitute a health commission to protect the patient rights’ in hospitals.
