KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhter Farooqui on Monday said Nazeer Hussain Cricket Academy had given a good playground and academy to the city which would help produce better national-level cricketers.
“More such academies and sports grounds are needed in Karachi so that our youth could be motivated towards positive activities and talented youngsters get the opportunity to progress in this field by showcasing their abilities at the highest level,” he expressed these views at the inaugural match of the under 15 cricket tournament at Nazeer Hussain Cricket Academy in North Nazimabad.
Farooqui in his address said without sports activities, no society could produce a good politician or scientist. “Karachi being a big city deserved its right in every field according to its population. All possible cricket learning and training facilities should be made available to the youth in Karachi.”
He said efforts were on to promote sports and enhance standard of education in KMC schools. The recent female sports festival was part of that program and the now boys sports festival would be organized in the city.
The administrator said they needed to protect and secure the future of children and encourage them in educational and recreational activities.
He also praised the academy for offering free of cost ground facility to the cricket teams playing in this academy. He said KMC would support all such positive activities. He also announced donation of Rs 50,000 for the academy. The under 15 tournament is being participated by eight major teams of the city including PIA, Moin Khan Academy, National Bank and Nazeer Hussain Academy.
