KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui said that re-routing of public transport in Saddar area and removal of encroachments has brought positive results and the business community and people have appreciated this joint step of KMC: commissioner Karachi and the DIG traffic.
He said that such measures which were aimed at providing more facilities to citizens of Karachi would continue. He expressed these views on Saturday while reviewing the implementation of re-routing of public transport plan in Saddar area and the measures that had been taken by the municipal authority to clear the roads and roundabouts of Saddar and adjoining areas from all sorts of encroachments.
This may be noted that the re- routing of public transport in Saddar area was started on since 8th April and this project was jointly implemented by the commissioner Karachi: KMC and the DIG traffic.
Under the plan public transport was being re-routed on various main roads and sub arteries in and around main Saddar area including MA Jinnah Road: Mensfield Street: Rafiquee Shaheed Road: Sarwar Shaheed Road: Dawood Pota Road: Sagheer Shaheed Road: Shahra-e-Liaquat: Fleet Club: Preedy Street and Karachi Cantt.
The administrator called it a good omen that people: traders and shopkeepers in the Saddar area have praised these efforts which ensured smooth traffic flow on roads and roundabouts in the main business hub of the city and also provided full cooperation in the implementation of this plan.
He directed the officers to keep an eye on the reestablishment of encroachments anywhere in the city and take immediate action for their removal.
“In order to solve the parking of vehicles problem in Saddar area: the Saddar Parking Plaza will be soon made operational and the project of another parking plaza at Shahabuddin Market will also be completed soon: ” said Farooqui.
