Airport attack case: Plaintiff’s statement recorded


KARACHI: The complainant in Karachi Airport attack case, assistant director of Airport Security Force (ASF) Mohammad Iqbal, recorded his statement before an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday.

On the previous hearing of the case ATC judge issued the arrest warrant for plaintiff for his extend absence in the several hearings of the case.

According to prosecution, Iqbal stated that 10 suspects had attacked the Karachi airport in two groups. He said that all of the militants were killed in a shootout whereas some ASF personnel also embraced the martyrdom. Meanwhile, defense counsel crossed the complainant, who lodged a FIA after the attacked.

Earlier, the same court had issued non-bail able arrest warrants for main culprits in the case, TTP chief Mulla Fazlullah, spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid and nine others.

The arrested suspects, Sarmad Siddiqui, Nadeem alias Burger and Asif Zaheer have been charged with allegedly providing logistical support, funds and weapons to 10 attackers. The militants on July 8, 2014 had attacked Karachi airport and killed at least 15 people. Later, the TTP claimed the responsibility for the attack and their spokesman said that the attack was also carried out to avenge the death of Hakimullah Mehsud, who was killed in a US drone strike.
