Karachi: Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Thursday held country wide demonstrations against NADRA and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for not giving NICOP to Altaf Hussain.
The demonstrations were held in different parts of the country outside NADRA offices including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Hyderabad, Ghotki, Sukkur, Larkana, Nawabshah, Khairpur, Badin, Thatta, Multan, Sukkur and other cities.
Speaking at a protest demonstration outside NADRA office at Shahra-e-Faisal in Karachi, MQM Deputy Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that the government was afraid of the return of Altaf Hussain as he was the only hope of people to fight for their rights.
Rizvi said that 40 days had passed but the government had not given passport and NICOP to Altaf Hussain. “If government wanted to give passport to Altaf Hussain, then it should give it immediately and if they do not want to give it then tell us,” he said.
Sindh Minister for Health Dr Sagheer Ahmed said that supporters of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain were present across the country and the reason to protest was to show agitation felt by people over not issuing passport to Altaf Hussain.
MQM leader Abdul Haseeb said that more than a month had passed since Altaf Husain submitted his application but he was denied his basic right of his national identity card.
He said that it was a token protest and if the government did not take the mater seriously and issue passport to Altaf Hussain, they would launch movement of country-wide protests.
