KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Monday said that he fulfilled formalities to get Pakistani passport and expressed his grief over interior ministry officials’ statement regarding not receiving his passport application.
In a statement issued on Monday, Hussain said that he wanted to tell interior ministry officials and federal government that he along with other MQM coordination committee members and other activists submitted his application for passport on 04 April 2014.
“I submitted my application to then Pakistan Ambassador in Britain, Wajid Shamsul Hassan after the embassy staff did not received my application over non-presence of national identity card,” he said adding that he gave his photos, finger prints and submitted required documents in the presence of the ambassador.
He said that Wajid Shamsul Hassan has witnessed the entire process and a conformation slip bearing token number 2 and tracking ID 503601007637 was also present with them.
“Foreign Affairs spokesperson Tasneem Aslam admitted of receiving my application and sending it to interior ministry on April 17 but now they are denying it,” he said adding that interior ministry and NADRA officials should give him time frame regarding issuing his passport so that he could apply for national identity card through apex court.
He said that investigation should also be made against elements spreading lies of not receiving his application.
