Another polio case found in city


Karachi: A new polio case surfaced in Gadap Town area of Karachi on Monday and raising the number of detected cases to five this year. According to the Anti-Polio Cell, polio virus was detected in 18-month old Hafsa daughter of Marjan, resident of Sultanabad Sector 3 Manghopir, UC-8 Gadap Town Karachi.

With the emerging of new case a total 60 cases reported in Pakistan in 2014 out of which 46 cases were reported from FATA (North Waziristan 40, South Waziristan 04, Khyber Agency 01 and FR Bannu 01, KPK 09 cases (Peshawar 04, Bannu 05), Karachi 05 cases (Gadap 03, Orangi Town 01, Baldia 01).

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has recommended that Pakistanis travelling abroad should present polio vaccination certificates.
