Karachi: A new polio case was reported in Karachi city on Saturday, taking the total of known cases to 9 in Sindh province and with this new case the number of cases reached 99 in 2014 across Pakistan, confirmed Expended Program on Immunization Sindh official.
Deputy Project Manager Expended Program on Immunization (EPI) Sindh Dr Durray Naaz Jamal said new polio case was reported from Gadap Town Karachi.
She said polio virus was detected in 21-month old child Hamza, son of Zabihullah, resident of Union Council 8 Gadap Town.
She said child was administrated polio vaccine only once in last six campaigns. She informed that out of nine cases eight were reported from Karachi and one from Sanghar so far. She said total 99 polio cases were detected in Pakistan in 2014 so far.
