Ansar Burney condemns Lahore incident

KARACHI: Chairman of Ansar Burney Trust International and former federal minister for human rights, Ansar Burney has termed Punjab police action against Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran workers in Lahore as state terrorism against humanity.

Burney said the killing of innocent people showed that the government did not want any military operation in North Waziristan to be successful.

He asked question from government that if barricades placed at the residence of Tahirul Qaudri were illegal, what about barricades in front of the residences of Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab in Lahore?

Burney said that as per reports, the barriers at the residence of Tahirul Qadri were placed four years back, if correct then why these were not removed earlier.

He said that the Ansar Burney Trust International had received eyewitnesses’ reports in Lahore that on the instructions from high ups, the Punjab police opened straight fire on peaceful TMQ workers.

Burney demanded immediate judicial inquiry with monitoring of independent NGOs without any further delay and also urged government to immediately remove all barricades from the residences of Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab in Lahore.
