Karachi: The anti-encroachments task force of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) removed all roadside encroachments including all pushcarts, cabins, shops and other such structures during an action at Nazimabad Khilafat Chowk and in Paposh Nagar.
The action was taken on the directive of Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui on Friday. Before the action, the president of 20 markets union, Muhammed Fareed, and other union officials were taken into confidence for the action.
Senior Director and Chairman of task force Bilal Manzar supervised the action which cleared the whole area and removed all hurdles in the smooth flow of traffic and the pedestrian movement.
Director Anti-encroachments Mazhar Khan, Additional Director Muhammad Shakir, Deputy Director Javed, Umer Raza, Abdullah Shafiq and Focal Person Nasim-ul-Ghani were also present on this occasion.
Meanwhile, Farooqui directed the anti-encroachments staff to keep an eye on the locations which were previously cleared and take action again if they found any re-establishment of encroachments.
“The present campaign is being carried out in the larger interest of the city. The district administration and law enforcement agencies were coordinated in these operations against all illegal structures in the city,” he said.
