KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Wednesday extended the remand of four activists of a banned outfit Lashkar-e- Jhangvi to CID police custody till 4th April 2014 in a case pertaining to the possession of explosive material and illegal weapons.
Four suspects, Mohammad Shahid alias Sunny, Kamran Khan alias Hussain, Muddassir Hussain alias Uzefa and Mohammad Khalid alias Abdullah, were produced before the court amid tight security. The investigation officer requested the court for more time to conduct further interrogations.
According to the prosecution, Shahid, Kamran, Muddassir and Khalid were arrested during raids conducted by CID police in Manghopir on 12th March 2014.
They were subsequently booked in several cases pertaining to the possession of illegal arms and explosive material. Police claimed that suspects were also involved in target killing and sectarian killing.
According to police, 100-kg explosive material, four suicide Jackets, two Kalashnikovs and some illegal weapons were also recovered from their possessions.
Case FIR No, (80, 81, 82, 83/ 2014) were registered against the suspects under section, 353, 324 (attempted murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the CID police station.
