KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court-II on Tuesday handed over a suspect to police custody till 8th April 2014 in a kidnapping for ransom case.
Police brought accused Sardar Abdul Ghafoor before ATC-II judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court for more time to conduct further interrogations. According to the prosecution, suspect Sardar and his two accomplices had kidnapped Amir Khan and Nasir Khan from Manghopir on 24 December 2014 and demanded Rs25million as protection money from their family. The accused also extended threats of killing them upon refusal to pay money.
Sardar was arrested during a raid conducted by police in Jacobabad on 24th March 2014, while his two accomplices Ali Gull and Alam Khan were in judicial custody in same case.
A case was registered under Sections 365-A (kidnapping for ransom) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, at the Manghopir police station.
