KARACHI: Vice Chancellor Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari (BBSUL) Dr Rashid Ahmad Shah on Monday said that the university had granted stipend to 138 students during last three years while 133 more students had also been selected for merit scholarship.
In a statement, he said that the university had started stipend and merit scholarship program three years back to encourage intelligent and hardworking students of the university.
“Under the program, Rs 8000 is given to meritorious students at the end of each semester and so far, 138 students who passed all subjects and had 80% attendance have been given the stipend,” he said.
He said that recently, 133 more students had been selected for the merit scholarship with cooperation of Zakat and Usher Committee of City District Government Karachi and they would be presented cheques soon.
He said that the university would continue financial help of the students so that they could continue their education smoothly.
