Karachi: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been approaching former Pakistan skipper and perhaps one of the best pacers Wasim Akram in order to take him as their bowling consultant.
According to media reports BCB has already contacted Wasim Akram in this regard during the recently concluded World T20 Championship in Bangladesh and but the contract is yet to be finalized.
“Our officials have talked to Wasim (Akram) on the matter, during the World T20 Championship concluded World T20 cup”, BCB media committee chairman, Jalal Yunus, has been quoted as saying by a local TV Channel.
However, the spokesman added that there had been no official meeting has taken place with the former left-hand bowler.
“We are waiting for Wasim Akram’s response and after that we would meet him officially to reach a contract. If Wasim shows his unavailability for a long-term contract than we would ask him to join for a brief stint so that we could be able to make a strong outfit for series against India, who are scheduled to tour Bangladesh in June, and for the tour of West Indies in August this year,” he said.
Pakistani bowlers Mushtaq Ahmed and Saqlain Mushtaq has been working as consultants for England and West Indies respectively with the later credited to have prepared lethal duo of Sunil Narine and Samuel Badree.
