KARACHI: Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President, Iftikhar Ahmed Vohra on Wednesday appreciated the efforts and rapid response of Sindh police that resulted in the arrest of four terrorists allegedly involved attacking a passenger bus at Safoora Goth and killing at least 45 innocent passengers on board.
In a statement, Vohra said that despite limited resources, Sindh police was doing a fine job and was making all out efforts to ensure peace and stability across the city.
KCCI president, while underscoring the need to enhance resources to police department, said that police officers in Karachi city were discharging their duties amid risks, therefore, they should be provided with latest state-of-the-art weapons and other necessary equipment being used globally to maintain the law and order situation.
He further urged the government to immediately announce compensation to the officers of police department who were martyred in various incidents during their quest to curb crime and maintain peace across the city.
He advised the authorities in police and rangers to intensify patrolling of various areas and install the highest possible number of pickets with a view to ensure that no such incident reoccurs in the city as such incidents terribly sabotage the image of Pakistan.
He was of the view that overall security situation had improved substantially in various parts of the city as the incidents pertaining to target killings, kidnapping for ransom, demand for extortion money, thefts, robberies and other street crimes had reduced sharply thanks to the ongoing operation being jointly conducted by Pakistan Rangers Sindh and Police.
