KARACHI: Chief Nursing Superintendent, Civil Hospital Karachi, Rubina John, on Tuesday urged the young nurses to discharge their duties with nd dedication so as to improve patient care.
She said this while addressing an awareness program to highlight the role of nursing community on the eve of International Nurses Day 2015 being observed every 12th May.
Member Provincial Assembly Shamim Mumtaz, Ex-MPA Nasreen Chandio, Director Nursing Surya Memon, Dr Nafeesa Sohail, Khair-un-Nisa, Abdul Wahid, Qayyum Marwat and others attended the event.
Rubina John said owing to nurses’ performance, private hospitals are considered role model in patient care. She said the government should fill vacant posts of nurses in public hospitals to improve patient care.
MPA Shamim Mumtaz said all the genuine demands of nurses will be resolved on priority, while vacant posts of nurses will be filled soon in public healthcares. She applauded role of male and female nursing staff in patient care.
Additional Medical Superintendent, Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr Nafeesa Sohail stressed the need of unity among nursing community. She said nurses have an important role in healthcare sector and they should adopt more caring behavior with patients.
President Provincial Nurses Association (PNA) Karachi Division Salamati Khokhar said nurses have been deprived of time scale, promotions, service structure and allowances in Sindh province. She said patients care could not improve until filling the shortage of nurses in government hospitals.
A cake cutting ceremony was also held to mark International Nursing Day.
