Karachi: Civil society organizations working for the protection of the rights of fishermen in Pakistan and India have launched a month-long joint campaign from April to May 2014 at to ensure release of detained fishermen and find permanent solution to this issue.
Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF): National Fishworkers Forum (NFF) and World Forum of Fisher People (WFFP) are leading the campaign for the cause.
Majority of the detained fishermen belong to the poor families and their children back are facing hardships to run their family affairs: said Sami Memon: a spokesman of PFF.
PFF chairperson Mohammed Ali Shah said fishermen community is facing a lot of problems.
There are 14 island villages: which do not have access to basic facilities: including water: health and education.
