KARACHI: Owing to carelessness of doctors, a woman was compelled to give birth to a baby boy out of Outpatient Department (OPD) of Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) on Monday morning.
A reliable source at the hospital said a woman was brought in Obstetricians & Gynaecology Ward-III of CHK in the wee hours of today with pregnancy related pain but the ward administration asked the woman and her husband to get OPD receipt first for admission to the ward.
Despite severe pregnancy, the woman and husband forced to wait for the opening receipt counter till Monday morning, the source said. In the morning, the woman had to stand in a long queue at the hospital when suddenly her condition got serious due to severe pregnancy pain.
“The woman was shifted to a nearby washroom where she gave birth to a baby boy,” the source said and added that the hospital administration later shifted the woman.
The increasing burden of public in government hospitals and loss of precious lives in the hands of health practitioners due to the massive rush in healthcare has become a routine matter.
