Children health linked to healthy nation


KARACHI:,,, A function of Hamdard Naunehal Assembly Karachi chapter, comprised recitation of holy verses from Holy Qur’an, Naat, speeches, skit and ‘dua-i-Said’, was held at a local hotel. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Pakistan – Pakistan said that according to a saying of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said: “A healthy child means a healthy Pakistan”

‘If we want to make the future of Pakistan healthy and strong, we have to take care of our children’s health just now’, she said, adding: ‘I am sure that Pakistani society will get rid of its present unhealthy and harmful situation and become peaceful, healthy, prosperous and developed nation in near future.

Chief guest and head of the department of Periodontology, Hamdard University Dental Hospital, Karachi Prof. Dr. Imran Hasan while addressing the gathering of children said that oral health was most important for overall health of a person, because mouth was the gateway of digestive system and the process of digestion began from mouth.

Advising the children to wake up early in the morning, he said, “Early to bad and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”. So they should wake up early in the morning, brush their teeth and take rich breakfast, being a fuel for their body. ‘Brushing twice a day is better and sleeping late in the morning is harmful,’ he said, adding: ‘Those who sleep late in the morning would become pessimists.

Don’t take unhealthy eatables and beetle nut and tobacco products because these things create dangerous oral and other diseases, he warned the children and said: ‘half yearly check up of teeth is necessary for oral health.

Paying tribute to the services of Hakim Said for the betterment of children, he said that Hakim Sahib and his magazine for children “Hamdard Naunehal” were still with the children as his magazine was still giving good training to the children in befitting manner child speakers also spoke on the occasion. Besides teachers, parents and children attended the function in large numbers.
