KARACHI: A delegation comprising five Chinese experts on Thursday expressed interest in unhygienic waste of hospitals and the project of solid waste management in a meeting with Managing Director Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) Roshan Ali Sheikh at his office.
Chinese experts Li Jiw Hong and Jiao Zhixing, Executive Director Operation Karachi SSWMB AD Sanjani and Director Media Management SSWMB Muhammed Shabih Siddiqui were also present on the occasion.
Roshan Sheikh told the delegation that a system would be mechanized to collect door-to-door garbage and transfer it to garbage transfer station (GTS) in a safe way.
He said SSWMB was going to introduce a strong waste management system based on scientific method in Karachi in which the waste would be processed according to international rulings. Waste would be recycled and precious things would be separated from it.
Karachi generates 11000 tonnes waste in a day he said.
Power plants of generating electricity through waste and other things of mutual interests were also discussed in the meeting.
