KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui while expressing annoyance over the failure of achieving revenue target by KMC departments, directed revenue officers to improve their performance and explore for new income resources so that KMC’s financial resources could be improved further and revenue targets achieved which would help preparing a realistic budget of KMC.

He expressed these views while addressing a revenue officers meeting in KMC building on Monday. He said every KMC officer wanted to be deputed in some better department but they were not ready to work.

“If officers do not achieve revenue targets, then the employees will not get salaries or any other facilities like vehicle or fuel.”

“Budget deficit was increasing with every year along with the salaries and other expenditures while the recoveries were showing decline, therefore, the officers must make all possible efforts for enhancement in the income of the organization.”

He said Karachi is a big city and the municipal corporation of such a huge city should not face financial constraints. Farooqui said a big operation against the encroachments was underway in the city, therefore, the enforcement income must also be increased.

He directed charged parking department to arrange for auction of all charged parking sites which he said could raise the KMC income.
