KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui on Monday announced to start a cleanliness campaign at city’s busiest business area, II Chundrigar Road and warned strict action against owners of buildings if garbage and litter is found outside their buildings.
This he announced while presiding over a meeting at his office regarding conversion of II Chundrigar Road into a model road. Additional Commissioner-I Sibghat Ullah Mehar, Director Planning &Development Syed Shakib, Director Local Government Rubeena Asif, representative of State Bank of Pakistan Dr Zeba and other officials were also present.
During the meeting, recommendations were presented by participants regarding the project. It was decided that a master planner would be hired to design the plan and later the execution will be materialised with the consent of banks and other stakeholders whose offices are situated on the road.
Director planning & development purposed that a prodigious snorkel and two fire tenders were urgently needed for high-rise buildings in the respective area, so that in case of any emergency protection of precious lives and properties of people could be ensured.
“II Chundrigar Road is a business and trade area of Karachi, its commercial activities not only profit the city’s economy but also increase the beauty of the city, as multi-cultural people visit the area daily,” the commissioner said.
Siddiqui lauded that government had been striving hard to provide maximum facility to the stakeholders, and cleanliness campaign was a part of it.
