CM to head committee for protecting minority rights

KARACHI: Surendar Valasai, Advisor to PPP Patron-In-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Minority Affairs has said that a high-powered Committee for Protection of Minority Rights in Sindh will soon be announced with Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah as head to deal with the issues being faced with by the minorities in the province.

Talking to a delegation of minorities, Surendar Valasai said PPP is the only political party in the country which is seriously concerned about the rights of minority communities and its leadership will always stand for them and their rights.

He said Committee for Protection of Minority Rights will look into all the issues and grievances of all the minority communities in monthly meetings to be presided over by Chief Minister. “This is the first committee of its kind in the entire Pakistan where almost every minority including Hindu, Christians, Dalit/Scheduled Castes, Sikh, Parsi, etc have representation,” he added. From government side, two Provincial Ministers, Home Secretary, Secretary Finance, Inspector General of Police and others will also be the members of this committee to ensure swift remedies on the issues.

Surendar Valasai thanked young Party chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for taking keen interest in the grievances of minority committee and it were his express directives that the above committee is being formed by Government of Sindh.
