Commissioner asks expediting flyover projects


KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said on Thursday that if the development projects were not completed on time then the responsible contractors and consultant companies would be blacklisted, while, relevant government officers would face the music.

He said this while addressing an emergency meeting called, upon Chief Minister of Sindh Qaim Ali Shah’s notice, to address the issues of slow work on Malir Halt flyover project and stoppage of work on Malir 15 flyover, which has caused traffic jam situation in the area.

Siddiqui said that the contractors, consultant companies and other officials should expedite the work and make sure the completion of projects on time to save the money and time of government. He said that according to the directives of Syed Qaim Ali and Information Minister Sindh Sharjeel Memon the ongoing development projects should be completed as soon as possible for the relief of citizens.

The commissioner also said that the contractors, consultants and relevant officers could also be arrested for bringing bad name to the government and troubling citizens by slow progress in projects.

Deputy Commissioner Qazi Jan Muhammad, Chief Implement Units Syed Muhammad Shakeeb, SSP Traffic Saadat Ali, relevant DSP Traffic Muhammad Hashim and other officials were also present.
