Commissioner bans PQA land sale

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that people should avoid buying and selling land with Port Qasim Authority to escape the issues of court until government came up with a decision in this regard, otherwise, they would themselves be responsible for troubles.

He said while addressing a meeting with land committee regarding resolution of issues between the government and PQA. Additional Commissioner Karachi I Muhammed Aslam Khoso, Additional Secretary Land Utilization Fareed Ahmed Junejo, representative of PQA Zubairuddin Talpur, Survey Superintendant Karachi Muhammed Younis Dahiri, Assistant Commissioner Bin Qasim Ali Sher Meerani, Assistant Commissioner Ibrahim Hyderi Yousif Abbasi and other relevant officers were also present on the occasion.

The commissioner put ban on selling and purchasing of PQA land until comprehensive and final survey and decision of the government in this regard, because according to the constitution of Pakistan land belonged to the government.

He expressed dissatisfaction over non-completion of survey of the land due to negligence of the officers of deputy commissioner Malir’s office. He directed the DC to complete the survey in a week and present the report.

Siddiqui said the report should comprise the exact area of land allotted to PQA and how much was being used by it. He said until a final report of the survey was decided, it was illegal for PQA to sell or purchase any land.
