Committee visits JPMC, old-age house


Karachi: On the directives of Coordinator to Chief Minister for Human Rights Sindh Nadyaa Gabol, a legal aid committee of Human Rights Sindh, Karachi Chapter paid surprise visit to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) Hospital and a private old-age house and prepared a report for submission and perusal of Chief Minister Sindh.

A six member legal aid committee of Human Rights Department Sindh Karachi Chapter, Comprising of senior advocates and officers, paid surprise visit to different wards including Emergency, Medicines and Orthopedic of JPMC Karachi and enquired about the problems of the patients.

Committee was informed about unavailability of medicines and beds while patients had to suffer due to shortage of doctors and cleanliness.

They also complained of unavailability of waiting room for attendants of patients who come from far flung areas. There were also complaint of rude attitude of staff towards attendants and poor care of patients.

Committee also met with the doctors and staff of the hospital and gave valid recommendation in order to cater the problems of patients.

Committee also paid visit to a private run old age home of Karachi and inspected the facilities providing to the patients.

Trustee of the old age home briefed the committee about facility and problems about the organization.

The committee report will be submitted to the Minister for Health and Chief Minister of Sindh for their perusal and necessary action.
