Karachi: Over two dozen contract employees of Sindh AIDS Control Program on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration for their regularization on the second consecutive day outside their provincial branch office.
About 28 contract employees of Sindh AIDS Control Program from grade 1 to 17 has not been regularized despite completion of 19 years of service.
The protesters said Sindh AIDS Program has faced crises time to time and its extension period has not been approved so far. They feared that their jobs might be ended soon if the provincial government not regularized their jobs. They said uncertainty prevails among contract employees about their future.
The protesters demanded of the government to immediately regularize the contract employees; otherwise they will protest at Sindh Secretariat, Karachi Press Club and provincial branch office on daily basis till their demand is met.
A senior official of Sindh AIDS Control Program said regurgitation of contract employees is the responsibility of the health department, government of Sindh and question should be asked from the provincial government.
Provincial Program Manager of Sindh AIDS Control Program Dr Muhammad Ahmad Kazi could not be contacted for comment.
