KARACHI: Action should be taken against those responsible for NED University’s financial deficits in past, demanded representatives of NED Teachers Association on Monday.
Association’s President Prof Dr Usman Ali Shah and General Secretary Dr Mohammad Imran Aslam while talking to PPI demanded publication of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan’s research report pertaining to NEDUET’s financial deficits which was presented to the governor house a few months back.
He said the representatives of the association said the investigation was conducted by AQ Khan on the directives of the chancellor who is governor of Sindh, which was submitted to the governor house a few months back but it is still a mystery why action against those responsible officials could not be taken by authorities. They said these people have brought the university at the brink of bankruptcy for giving financial deficit of Rs 1440 million to the university.
Representatives also asked authorities concerned why still the report is hidden and why the people who took illegal action could not be taken to the task.
They said the current administration is also reluctant to implement the recommendations made by Dr AQ Khan Rajput after conducting the report including, 1) faculty ratio should be brought to 1:2 in university, 2) the powers of employment/appointment delegated to Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Director of Finance, Director of Services and others officials should be withdrawn with immediate effects, 3) the officers, faculty members who had been favoured and benefited in relaxing rules for promotions/appointments, should voluntarily surrender.
They demanded of the government to resolve their issues on priority basis as they are also the sons of soil and they have right to have their deducted benefits as other universities’ employees have been benefited in Sindh province.
