KARACHI: President of New Teachers Action Committee Karachi Abu Bakr Abro said that newly recruited teachers and many categories of non-teaching staff had been working since long but the government is paying them no regular salaries.
He said this during a demonstration staged in front of the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday.
“We have been regularly working in Karachi for 19 months and we have also worked for Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for door-to-door verification of voters but neither government nor the ECP has paid us,” he said. He said that two teachers in protest had burnt themselves to death and “We request Chairman the Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto that Director Education Karachi Wahab Abbasi and Addl. Chief Secretary, Education & Literacy Department Dr Fazlullah Pechuho should be sacked for irresponsible behaviour and the pending salaries be released,” he said.
