Dengue Control Program running without PM


KARACHI: Dengue Prevention and Control Program Sindh’s’ all administrative affairs has partially come to a halt, as provincial health department could still not appoint new program manger against a vacant post, sources at Dengue Control Program told PPI on Saturday.

The sources said Dengue Prevention and Control Program’s head had retired from his post on 3rd July 2015, but health department do not feel its responsibility to appoint program manager despite lapse a week. They said all the administrative and finical affairs of dengue program have partially been halted due to lethargy of provincial health depart.

They said monsoon season had started in Karachi and other parts of Sindh province. The dengue cases can increase with start of rains if precautionary measures are not taken timely. The peak season of dengue starts in month of July and will continue till November.

As many as 631 dengue fever cases have been reported across from Karachi since January 2015 out of which three were died of dengue fever in city this year. But health department has failed to devise any strategy to prevent people from dengue virus in peak season. Provincial Secretary Health Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo was not available for comment.
