KARACHI: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), has formally handed over the Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences (DIKIOHS) to Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU).
A simple ceremony was held in DIKIOHS which was attended by Special Secretary Public Health Sindh Dr Khalid Sheikh and Barkat Rajput of DUHS. On this occasion Barkat Rajput handed over the key of DIKIOHS to Vic-chancellor JSMU Prof Dr Tariq Rafi.
Prof Tariq Rafi said dental college has been formerly handed over to JSMU and we have started preparation to begin classes this year and hoped that will get success in this regard. He said: “We have published advertisement for dental college faculty.” He said admission would be given to students on merit through NTS test on 100 seats.
It was pertinent to mention here that DIKIOHS was established near Jinnah Sindh Medical University (old Sindh Medical College) had become the matter of conflict with DUHS and newly upgraded JSMU administration. Because that the DIKOHS was affiliated with DUHS since its establishment, while its building established in the limits of Sindh Medical College (new Jinnah Sindh Medical University).
However, later on the directives of Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat ul Ebad Khan the institution was handed over to JSMU.
