Dow University holds protest at KPC

KARACHI: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) Saturday held a protest at Karachi Press Club to condemn the murderous attack on Assistant Professor of Surgery, DUHS Prof. Muhammad Zubair.

The incident took place on Thursday when he was returning from his clinic near Rangonwala. He received bullets piercing through his chest. Presently he is in critical condition in a local hospital in Karachi.

The participants include senior faculty members and a large number of students. The protesters were carrying placards inscribing the demand to arrest the culprit and formulate a strategy to give protection to the doctor community.

Prof. Junaid Ashraf, Principal, Dow Medical College, DUHS and other participants of the protest condemn the murderous attack and demanded to provide security to the doctors serving day and night in different hospitals. They also expressed grave concern on continuous violence against doctors, target killing, kidnapping and money extortions. Due to incidences of such violence, doctors are frightened to work and are closing down their old practices and moving abroad. Unrest among doctor community is increasing as they are feeling insecure.

They participants demanded the government and law enforcement agencies to address the law and order situation seriously.
