EFP to award enterprises soon


KARACHI: Employers’ Federation of Pakistan (EFP) on Wednesday announced to launch third Employer of the Year 2014 Award ceremony on 9 September 2015 to acknowledge and honour efforts of large, medium and small enterprises for their contribution and commitments towards creation of skills and manpower and provision of supportive work environment.

Addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club, EFP’s President Khuwaja Mohammad Noman said the awards will encourage the enterprises to achieve targets, being set by the award winning companies. He said the award competition aims to highlight the employers’ role in producing skilled workforce in line with market demand. He said the role of private sector in technical and vocational education and training (TVET) delivery and planning is well recognized.

While lauding industrialization, Noman said industries in Pakistan are main beneficiaries of better system as those are contributing to reform TVET system initiated in 2011 by the government and supported by European Union, Netherland, Germany and Norway through TVET Reform Supportive Program.

Talking about the development of federation, he said EFP is actively involved in implementing the TVET reforms in close collaboration with National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NVTTC) and contributes on behalf of employers at different levels right from defining the skills, needs, training delivery, assessment and place of skilled workforce.

He said EFP as service organization, works closely with Dutch Employers Corporation Program (DECP), The Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association, Japan and International Training Centre (ITC-ILO) as they were member of International Labour Organization.

He said EFP had developed a strategic Action Plane which is also reflected by Pakistan National Business Agenda in 2013. In this regard, the relevant authorities were approached by EFP including the President of Pakistan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, relevant ministers and other stakeholders. He said EFP, through its serving capacity, is providing opportunities to the members according to EOP award of Competition, Occupational Safety, and Health & Environment award competition.
