KARACHI: DIG East Muneer Sheikh on Wednesday claimed to have arrested eight criminals during raids in limits of Korangi Industrial Area and New Town.
Addressing a press conference in his office, Muneer Sheikh said that police conducted targeted raids in different areas of Korangi Industrial Area and New Town after receiving information about presence of criminals. He said that police arrested eight criminals of two different gangs.
Muneer said that arrested accused, Muhammad Tariq alias Chingari, son of Lal Badshah, Masood Khan alias Shahjee, son of Naseem Khan, Asifullah, son of Sarwar Shah, Bashir Ahmed, son of Umar Khattab and Shaffi Ur Rehman, son of Mehrab Shah, were involved in 40 looting, snatching, street crimes and other criminal activities. He said that accused had also injured several persons including 18-year-old girl, Ayesha, daughter of Shahabuddin, during attempted robberies.
He said that arrested accused Muhammad Tariq alias Chingari was handed down punishment by court in 2011 for involving in robberies and illicit arm.
Muneer said that Rahim Saeed alias Maniya, son of Abdul Saeed, Muhammad Amial alias Shikari, son of Muhammad Khalid and Sartaj, son of Aslam Khan were also involved in 25 robberies, street crimes and other criminal activities. He said that accused had also killed a man, Muhammad Farooq, and injured several persons on resisting robberies.
DIG said that eight pistols with bullets were recovered from the arrested accused.
