Eight killed, 12 injured in road mishaps


KARACHI: Eight people were killed and 12 others injured in different road mishaps in the metropolis on Monday.

Two persons, including a boy, were killed when a speeding vehicle hit their motorcycle near Baqai Hospital on Superhighway. They were identified as Altaf, 25, and Hanif, 13, son of Siddique. The bodies were brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.

A water tanker truck ran over seven children as a result three of them died near Khairabad restaurant at Northern Bypass. Deceased were identified as seven-year-old girl Zareena, daughter of Mehboob; Hurera, 05 and Azeem, 06. The bodied were shifted to ASH for autopies while injured were shifted to a nearby hospital.

Farhan, 32, son of Ibrahim, died near Murshid Hospital in Baldia Town area in a road mishap. The body was shifted to CHK for medico-legal formalities.

An unidentified man, aged about 35, was killed in a road accident near Abdullah College, Board Office. The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy.

In a separate incident, a man, Ashiq, 50, son of Kaku, died when a speeding vehicle hit him near Daru-us-Sehat Hospital in Orangi Town. The body was shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities.

A bus and oil tanker truck collided on Hub River Road near Yousaf Goth. As a result, 12 persons were injured. Three injured women, Bilqees, 35; Noor Jahan, 35; and Abida, 35; were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), while remaining sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
