KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s anti-encroachment department on Thursday removed more than 100 stalls from a footpath near Empress Market in Saddar area.
KMC Anti-Encroachment Cell Director Bilal Manzar said that more than 2000 stalls were removed from the road leading to Empress Market and Mobile Phone Market in Saddar a week back but some of the encroachers once again set up their stalls at the footpaths causing menace for the traffic.
“No new encroachments were removed on Wednesday, instead the encroachments of people who once again setup their stalls at footpaths were removed,” he said.
He said that the department would ensure that no new encroachments are setup in areas from where they were removed. “We will take every step to ensure traffic flow in Saddar area in order to avoid traffic nuisance due to congestion of roadside stalls in the area,” he said.
