KARACHI: Shortage of latest equipments and skilled instructors has increased the miseries of visiting patients and under-training technicians in Physiotherapy Department (PD)of Civil Hospital Karachi, it was learned on Monday.
An official of Physiotherapy Department CHK on condition of anonymity said visiting patients were facing problems due to shortage of machines. He said some machines were out of order since long and department administration could not repair those as yet.
He said: “Physical therapy of patients is carried out to help, treat and restore damaged muscles.” He said physical and mental exercises can also rehabilitate patients from injuries. He said treadmill or runner machines are also out of order from last few years.
Official said there was no skilled instructor for trainee technicians who enrolled in department for one year training by submitting administration fees. He said generally no skilled instructor or physiotherapist is available to train technicians in department and students learned all these things by their own. He informed that around 60 to 70 patient visit the department on daily basis.
Medical Superintendent, CHK, Prof Dr M Saeed Qureshi when contacted said he would direct Head of Department Dr Shama in this regard.
