KARACHI: Population is boon not bane in terms of resources on which economy of China has risen in such a manner which could take place in centuries only, said Pakistan’s Ambassador to Federal Republic of Germany His Excellency Syed Hasan Javed said on Wednesday.
“We are taught that population creates problem and is burden on economy, however the story of China proves otherwise. 178 out of 500 fortune companies are from China which is predicted to rise up to 250 out of 500 until 2020. I thought I owe writing this book to our young generation, which is meant to create values by sharing values,” he said while speaking at book launching ceremony of his book ‘Chinese Soft Power Code’ at Institute of Business Management (IoBM).
He said the world knew only the big numbers of GDP, exports and investment data coming out of China. Only a few have ever attempted to understand the values and attributes of social capital which are fuelling China’s rise. In fact, soft power is China’s biggest export. Future belonged to societies which were blessed with soft power.
He said Pakistan is the most blessed nation. We have resources that should be utilized properly. Pakistan’s future lies in youth which is the best resource we own. Population provided cheap labour and added soft power skills to rise nations.
Javed has served as Pakistani diplomat in Beijing for a decade his book is reflective of China as harmonious blend of positive thinking, creative reincarnation, peaceful development and mutual cheerfulness and becomes a model for the least developed, underdeveloped, developing and the developed societies in their respective ways and provides rejuvenating insights to men at the helm of affairs.
Chief guest of the event and Sindh Information Minister Nisar Khuhro reached late due to his business on trip to visit water situation in different areas of the province. He apologized and acknowledged about having no knowledge as to what had passed yet in the book launching program, however he managed to spoke a few formal words to grace the occasion.
“Seldom has a book so overwhelmingly decodes the secret of civilization than reflecting upon China with its human resources of exemplary promise and potential emerging from the so labelled opium history and the tantrums of nuclear holocaust to one attributed as economic super power of the world than this book of Javed,” said head of Public Affairs Department and senior faculty at IoBM Parvez Jamil.
Rector IoBM Talib Karim said it was quite rare and very pleasing that serving ambassador wrote a book in Pakistan. They usually did this after getting retired, he smiled.
Head of International Affairs Department, IoBM, Talat Wizarat said the book was a great contribution to literature. “It is amazing to compact so much knowledge and ideas in limited space and it is a new concept to shed light on soft part.”
Director Zarai Taraqqiati Bank Majyd Aziz said for trade we usually looked at America, England, Europe and other western countries, why not East. Why was SAARC not bearing fruit.
Secretary General the Karachi Council on Foreign Relation (KCFR) Ahsan Zubairi, Chairperson, Department of Social Sciences IBA Karachi Huma Baqai and other intellectual people were also present on the occasion.
