KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Satudray acquitted an accused, Waseem alias Beater in money extortion case. ATC judge pronounced the verdict after recording the evidences, statements of witnesses and hearing arguments from both sides. ATC found the accused not guilty of demanding extortion and hurling threats of killing in case of non-payment.
According to the prosecution, the accused was allegedly involved in different cases of demanding extortion and threats of killing in case of non-payment in different areas.
The police arrested the accused on 5th September 2014, but it had failed to produce any evidence against him in the court, therefor, ATC acquitted him in the extortion case.
The case FIR No 75/2013 was registered under Section 385 (Putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 386(Extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the Napier police station
