Fake appointments: SIU arrest three swindlers


KARACHI: SSP Special Investigation Unit (SIU) CIA Farooq Awan claimed on Saturday to have arrested three members of a cheating gang involved in fake appointments and promotions in various departments of Sindh government.

Addressing a press conference in his office, Farooq Awan said that the gang members were posing as high government officials. He said that police traced their footprints and arrested three accused including two police officials, ASI Muhammad Aslam, son of Piro Khan; head constable Wazir Muhammad, son of Phool Khan, and a Grade-18 school teacher Nazir Ahmed, son of Ghulam Ahmed from Shershah area.

Awan said that this gang of swindlers had deprived several people of heavy amounts of money. He said that police efforts were under way to arrest their accomplice, Qazi Mustafa Ismail, who was mastermind of the gang.

SSP said that fake visiting cards of former president Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, bogus letter pads and other documents were recovered from the arrested accused.
