Four suspects remanded to police custody in explosive material case

KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) on Thursday remanded four accused to police custody till 16 April in a case pertaining to the possession of explosive material and illegal weapons.

The accused, Muhammad Hussain, Muhammad Adil, Muhammad Bilal and Sheroz were produced before the court amid tight security. The investigation officer requested the court for more time to conduct further interrogations.

According to the prosecution, accused were arrested during an encounter conducted by police in DHA phase 7 on 9 April 2014. They were subsequently booked in several cases pertaining to the possession of illegal arms and explosive material.

Two Kalashnikovs, two pistols and four hand grenades and some illegal weapons were also recovered from their possession.

Case FIR 210/14 was registered against the suspects under Sections 353, 324(attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, Section 4/5 of the Explosive Substance Act at the Gizri police station.
